intro
This page is dedicated to the Roland
family of L/A synthesizers and other closely related instruments.
'L/A', depending on where you look and who you ask, stands for Linear
Arithmetic, Additive, or Algorithmic synthesis,
an approach to sound construction involving the use of PCM samples
(digital recordings of 'real' instruments), analog waveforms ---
sine and square for example, and combinations thereof (structures).
disclaimer
Please understand that I am not affiliated with
Roland or any of its subsidiaries, like Boss
or Edirol. Nor am I connected with any kind of third party
developer or product support service. So please do not send me
email asking for help on setting up or troubleshooting your
hardware. I honestly don't know. Furthermore, it's the
whole, "I have a full-time job, etc, etc" routine with me.
ratings (from
to

)
I'm not rating aesthetics of the sites, but on how
much useful (in my opinion) information is at the site. It's
great to know things like a person's opinions on a particular synth,
but does it have more immediately useful information or software?
Special thanks to Gord
Braun for starting this page, and passing on the torch to me.
